Cute Kids
Today we all took a break from our extensive chore list and took the kids to the Lego store at Downtown Disney. This is somewhat humorous because we've never even taken them to Disney, but that's an undertaking for another day, a day where we would need to be feeling much more ambitious.
After we all had dinner a gentleman approached me and told me that I had adorable kids.
I had to laugh as Kate (having finished her meal) was at that point covered from head to toe in cheese sauce. Macaroni and cheese having been her dinner, and her mom having forgotten a bib (this incidentally is the one of the few items she insists on eating by herself, with her hands. Applesauce is also on this list...)
Jack, was running laps in the restaurant, sporting his first ever black eye. This lack of parental control coupled with the black eye was earning us a few nasty glances.
I thanked him, and mentioned that he was very kind, as my kids did seem to be a bit of a mess. He responded that he hadn't even noticed.
Now, to go with the story I could post some pictures of the mess that Jack & Kate were... (I could if I had remembered to bring my camera). Instead, I'll post some pics of them the way they were seen through this strangers eyes. Just cute.

Thanksgiving (just a wee bit late)
It's about time! On Thanksgiving, I asked Jack what he was thankful for (his answer below), after he answered for himself, he went on to suggest what the rest of his family was thankful for;
Jack - Candy & choo choo trains
Kate - M&M's
Daddy-Choo choo trains
Mommy - Snakes
Now, some of this needs little explanation - after all, what 3 year old isn't thankful for candy? Choo Choo trains, well, they are a big hit in this house right now. As for his answer for Mommy, well, he was running out of ideas at that point and looking around his room for inspiration. He spotted a giant stuffed snake and well, there it was. The answer.
Mommy is really thankful for many things this year - none of them snakes. Among them, her two darling children, her very supportive husband, Pop Pop's increasingly good health, the generosity of an anonymous donor, her mother's fortitude and positive outlook & last but not least the good health & continued good fortune of her entire family...
Here are some pictures from our Thanksgiving. Somehow, Scott escaped capture in any of them, but I assure you... he was there!
After a fabulous meal...
Cousin Austin + large cardboard box = FUN
oh look.. there's Scott in the background!

Kate's contribution... she cleans!

2009 Resolutions
I have resolved to try to post in "real time" for 2009. Already, it's January 6th and I'm struggling to meet the commitment. Why? Well, I have about 150 pictures of my adorable children on my 'new' (that I don't know how to really work yet) camara that I would love to blog about, but the task of downloading them all and making them legible, etc., seems daunting when my free time amounts to occassional 5 minute intervals through out the day.
So anyway, in an effort to blog real time - a few random notes from today.
Jack is a smart smart boy. This morning, while watching TV with me in bed while I tried to sneak a few more minutes of sleep, he asked, "Mom, is Diego a kid?" unsuspecting, I said,
"yes"
"I'm a kid" Jack says.
"yes you are" I say wondering where this is going..... here it comes...
"BUT Diego has a computer and I don't"
this is how his 3 year old logic works. If someone else is 3, or a kid like him, he should be able to have all of the things that this other person (real or not) has. It's difficult to argue with. To save time this morning (still trying to sleep) I replied,
Yes, but Diego is a little bit bigger than you. He's at least 6 or 7.
End of conversation for now. I'll have to be a bit more careful with my answers in the future.
Happy New Year to everyone! In addition to my resolution to blog real time, I am also going to attempt blogging backwards... so many fun photo's and memories to record from our FANTASTIC holiday season.
stay tuned.
